Alaska-Canada Adventure Ride

Day 24 - Co-op Lake, British Columbia to Jasper (Robson campground), British Columbia
(348 miles)

Alaska-Canada route mapThe days goal was to reach Jasper National Park and try to find a place to camp there. After riding through Prince George, we took the Yellowhead Highway 16 up toward Banff, stopping at the Purden ski resort for lunch and joking about the decorative tourist oriented kitch that adorns the place.

After gassing up at McBride at the western side of Banff, use of the Wikicamps app in this case seemed to yield less reliable information on potential camping locations. When eventually getting to the Mt. Robson rest area visitors center area late that afternoon, the place looked quite crowded, and open campsites were nowhere to be found. But after a little backtracking and a more aggressive search by splitting up, we were able to find something less noticeable west of the visitor center, but quite nice with running water in the bathrooms and a shower.

Doing a bit of exploration on the motorcycles into the park after dinner yielded some good photography of the scenic mountain ranges as the light reached the golden hour. We rode all the way to the far end of Moose Lake before turning around and heading back to camp. It is a beautiful area, but I was still struggling with the shock of being surrounded by all these people.
